I brought these two artists, father and daughter, together in order to compare experiences of passage, in part because of their familial tie. It was also my concern to deepen my understanding of the impact that each artist’s life has had on the work of the other, or on the reception of that work. If Yun Gee’s influences on Li-lan’s life and creative output is in the realm of the expected, her influence on his artistic fortunes and legacy is a more rare form and most noble.
